What is CIDR?
CIDR (Classless Inter-Domain Routing) is a method for allocating IP addresses and IP routing. The CIDR notation /prefix indicates how many bits are used for the network portion of the address.
Subnet Mask vs Wildcard Mask
The subnet mask identifies the network portion (1 bits) and host portion (0 bits). The wildcard mask is the inverse of the subnet mask and is commonly used in access control lists (ACLs) and OSPF configurations.
