How to Calculate Decking Boards
Divide the deck width by the board width (plus gap) to get the number of boards across. If your deck is longer than your board length, multiply by the number of boards needed lengthwise. Standard deck boards are 5.5 inches wide with 1/8-inch gaps. Add 10-15% for waste from cuts.
