What is Morse Code?

Morse code is a character encoding scheme that represents letters and numbers as sequences of dots (.) and dashes (-). It was developed by Samuel Morse and Alfred Vail in the 1830s for use with the telegraph.

How Morse Code Works

Each character is represented by a unique combination of dots and dashes. Letters within a word are separated by spaces, and words are separated by a slash (/). Common letters like E (.) and T (-) have shorter codes.
