What Is the Epley Formula?

The Epley formula estimates your one-rep max as: 1RM = Weight x (1 + Reps / 30). It is one of the most widely used formulas in strength training and works best for rep ranges between 2 and 10.

How to Use Your 1RM

Knowing your 1RM helps program training intensity. Strength work typically uses 85-95% of 1RM, hypertrophy 65-85%, and endurance 50-65%. Never attempt a true 1RM without a spotter and proper warm-up.
