Calculate the amount of epoxy resin needed based on floor area and coating thickness in mils.
How to Calculate Epoxy Coverage
At 100% solids, 1 gallon of epoxy covers approximately 1,604 sq ft at 1 mil thickness. For a typical garage floor coating of 10 mils, that is about 160 sq ft per gallon. Multiply by the number of coats (typically 2) for total material needed. Porous concrete may require a primer coat first.
Epoxy Thickness Guidelines
Thin-film coatings: 3โ10 mils (decorative, light duty). Self-leveling epoxy: 10โ20 mils (garage floors). Industrial coatings: 20โ40 mils (warehouse, commercial). Always apply at manufacturer recommended spread rate. Temperature and humidity affect working time and cure.
