How to Calculate Pavers Needed
Divide the total project area (in sq ft) by the area of one paver (including the gap width). Common paver sizes include 4×8″, 6×6″, 6×9″, and 12×12″. Always add 5–10% for cuts and waste, or up to 15% for diagonal patterns.
Paver Pattern Tips
Running bond (brick) patterns waste about 5%, while herringbone or diagonal patterns can waste 10–15%. A standard 1/4-inch joint is typical for most paver installations. For polymeric sand, you will need about 1 bag per 25–50 sq ft depending on joint width and paver thickness.
