Capacitance Formulas
Capacitance is defined as C = Q/V, where Q is charge in coulombs and V is voltage. The RC time constant τ = R × C gives the time for a capacitor to charge to 63.2% of its final voltage. Energy stored in a capacitor is E = ½CV². Five time constants are needed for a capacitor to fully charge or discharge.
