How to Calculate Sod Needed
Measure your lawn area in square feet (length × width), then divide by the coverage per roll. A standard sod roll is 2 ft × 5 ft = 10 sq ft. Some suppliers sell larger rolls (2 × 7.5 ft = 15 sq ft). Add 5% waste for rectangular areas and 10% for irregular shapes.
Sod Installation Tips
A pallet of sod typically covers 400–700 sq ft depending on roll size and supplier. Sod should be installed within 24 hours of delivery. Prepare the soil by grading, adding topsoil if needed, and lightly watering before laying sod. Stagger seams like bricks for a seamless look.
