LM317 Voltage Regulator Formula
The LM317 adjustable voltage regulator uses two external resistors to set the output voltage: Vout = 1.25 × (1 + R2/R1). The standard R1 value is 240Ω. The minimum output is 1.25V (when R2 = 0) and maximum is typically 37V. Input voltage must be at least 2-3V higher than the desired output for proper regulation.
